Lost River Caverns is a limestone show cave with an underground river in Hellertown, PA, giving guided walking tours since 1930.

The guided tour follows about 1,200 feet of paved walkway through the cavern, with the Lost River flowing through it, at a constant 52 degrees in any season. On the same property, the Gilman Museum holds fossils, minerals, gemstones and 17th-century weapons, a two-acre nature trail loops the grounds in 15 to 20 minutes, and a rebuilt 19th-century gem mill and a picnic grove sit by Silver Creek.

Before you go

Reservations are required: call 610-838-8767 or book online. Bring a lightweight jacket (52 degrees inside) and walking shoes, since the walkways are often wet. The route has several ramps and eight steps and is not wheelchair accessible.
