Penn's Cave & Wildlife Park
Centre Hall, PA · 2 hours 58 minutes from Reading · $20 to $50 a person

Plan the day
Penn's Cave & Wildlife Park is an all-water limestone cavern and a farm-nature-wildlife park in Centre Hall, PA, 18 miles east of State College, where the cave tour is given entirely by boat.
The site calls it America's only all-water cavern, so you see the cave from a boat instead of on foot, in a constant 52 degrees. A bus tour of the farm-nature-wildlife park pairs with the boat tour, and the two together take about three hours. Kids get Prospector Pete's Miners Maze and gemstone panning, and off-road mountain jeep tours run June through November by reservation.
Before you go
Advance tickets are sold online but not required; on weekends, arrive by noon for walk-in tickets, since tours can sell out. Bring a jacket for the 52-degree cave and comfortable shoes for the 48 steps to the dock and the 350-foot incline. Strollers are not allowed on the tours. Parking is free.
Coming up
The farm-nature-wildlife bus tour runs daily through October 31, 2026 and weekends only in November, then closes for the winter; the cave boat tour continues daily through November and on weekends in December.
Checked October 8, 2026 on the official site. Hours, prices and seasons change, so confirm there before a long drive.
