Wharton Esherick Museum
Malvern, PA · 51 minutes from Reading · $20 to $50 a person
Open March through December; closed January and February.

Plan the day
The Wharton Esherick Museum is the preserved hilltop studio and home of the American artist Wharton Esherick in Malvern, PA, a National Historic Landmark seen by reserved guided tour only.
The studio and residence are kept much as they were when Esherick lived and worked there, and the building is a National Historic Landmark for Architecture, so the house itself is the exhibit. Tours are small, at most 8 guests, and take 60 to 75 minutes including the studio interior and the grounds. A separate architecture topic tour runs 75 to 90 minutes, and a third tour draws on oral histories of the studio.
Before you go
Reserve and pay in advance; walk-ins are not accommodated and tours are capped at 8 guests. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a refund. Much of the studio is up and down staircases and not accessible to wheelchairs or walkers; an ADA restroom is in the Visitor Center. No tripods or video.
