Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center marks the turn of the season with a guided forest therapy walk that begins in the Mansion Garden. Forest therapy is a slow, sensory way of spending time outdoors, closer to a series of gentle invitations to notice what is around you than to a traditional hike. Expect an easy pace, short distances, and plenty of time to stand still among the trees.

The autumn equinox marks the point when day and night fall into balance, and Nolde's wooded hillsides and stream corridors make a fitting place to observe it. A guide leads the group through the experience, offering prompts along the way and leaving room for quiet.

The program runs through the late morning and into the early afternoon at the center's New Holland Road grounds in Cumru Township, just south of Reading. Comfortable walking shoes and clothing suited to the weather will serve you well, since the whole session takes place outdoors.
