Brinton Lodge opens its doors for a guided walk through one of eastern Berks County's most storied buildings. The roughly 90 minute tour leads visitors through the centuries-old stucco mansion, including the pillared parlor, the grand master staircase, and bedrooms decorated in period style. Guides share the stories people have told about the place for generations, and the lodge welcomes guests who want to try ghost hunting apps on their phones along the way.

The house takes its name from Caleb Brinton, a former Reading hotelier who bought the property in 1927 and ran a private gentlemen's club there during Prohibition. Records connect the lodge to visiting entertainers of that era, including Elizabeth Taylor, Eddie Fisher, Frank Sinatra, and Benny Goodman, some of whom turned up for after-parties following shows at Pottstown's Sunnybrook Ballroom. Paranormal investigators have been documenting claims here since the 1970s.

The grounds sit along Route 724 across from the Schuylkill River, between Reading and Pottstown, and share space with Hidden River Brewing Company, which serves a light menu plus a rotating selection of beers along with Pennsylvania wine and cider. Tickets are non-refundable.
