The Berks County Solid Waste Authority brings its fall paper shredding collection to the Berks County Ag Center in Leesport on Saturday, October 3, with vehicles received by appointment from 8 AM to noon. Bring the bank statements, tax paperwork, medical records, and other sensitive documents that have been stacking up at home, and watch them handled securely on site.
The program is set up for households rather than organizations. Residents must pre-register, businesses and non-profits are not part of the collection, the limit is three boxes per vehicle, and plastic bags are not accepted, so packing paper in boxes ahead of time keeps the line moving. Documents collected at these events are shredded and recycled, which makes this a straightforward way to protect your personal information and keep paper out of the trash.
A collection like this also pairs well with a fall cleanout of the attic, basement, or filing cabinet. The Solid Waste Authority follows this date with a household hazardous waste collection at the same Leesport location on October 10, 2026, giving Berks County households two chances this season to clear out what cannot go in regular curbside pickup.
