Fall Prevention Day
September 24, 2026 · 9:00 AM · The Flynn PLEX at Alvernia University, 465 Saint Bernaradine Street, Reading · Free

About the event
Alvernia University's Tom and Helen Flynn PLEX hosts a morning built around staying steady, strong, and independent. Visitors can take part in free health screenings, balance and wellness activities, and presentations on brain health and nutrition, with community resource tables on hand for anyone who wants to learn what local services are available. Lunch is provided at no cost, and there are raffles, prizes, and giveaways throughout.
One highlight is Fall Prevention Bingocize, which combines the game of bingo with exercise and health education questions, mixing in range of motion, balance, strength, and endurance movements between rounds. The questions cover practical ground such as home safety changes, medication management, and keeping up with regular checkups, so a familiar game doubles as a way to pick up useful habits.
The event runs the morning into early afternoon and suits older adults, caregivers, and family members who want simple steps for reducing fall risk at home. Come for a screening, stay for lunch and a round of bingo.
