The Wyomissing Fall Walk Series brings neighbors together in the Parklands for a guided morning walk led by the Welshman, whose "Walk with the Welshman" outing traces the earliest chapters of the land along Wyomissing Creek. Long before the Wyomissing most of us know today, Welsh and German settlers farmed, milled and built roads here, and traces of that work remain in the landscape.
The group gathers at the Goodman Barn and heads into the Parklands, with stops and stories tied to Lutz's Farm, Rieth's Gristmill, Old Man Echo, Old Wyomissing Road and the Golden Meadow. Autumn supplies the rest: crisp air, turning leaves and the creek winding through the park. Parking is available at the gravel lot just off Old Mill Road, and comfortable walking shoes are a good idea.
Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Helping Harvest Food Bank or to make a contribution supporting the Wyomissing Recreation Department and its programs. Questions can go to the Recreation Department at 484-941-1056.
