About the event
Historic Crystal Cave opens its passages after dark for an evening tour lit entirely by hand-held lanterns. Guides dressed in Victorian clothing lead the way, presenting the cave much as visitors would have experienced it in the 1870s, when the site first drew crowds to this corner of Berks County.
Along the route you will hear accounts of curious and unexplained incidents recorded inside the cave and on the surrounding grounds during the 1800s, plus ghostly tales tied to the cave in more recent memory. These are stories kept aside from the regular daytime cavern tour, so even longtime visitors will find something new in the lantern glow.
The tour is built for families looking for an atmospheric fall outing rather than a fright attraction, and each guest takes home a souvenir Crystal Cave lantern. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the cave at 610-683-6765. Because the cave involves natural underground formations, the route is not wheelchair accessible.
Hosted by Crystal Cave on BerksConnect.
