Great Pumpkin Parade

About the event
The Mohnton-Cumru Lions Club brings its Great Pumpkin Parade back to Mohnton on the evening of October 17, stepping off in the Northridge section and traveling along Wyomissing Avenue to Mohnton Park. Marching bands, decorated floats, walking groups and costumed entries fill the route after dark, with judges awarding cash prizes in categories that include walkers, floats and dual groups, and musical groups.
The parade earns its name from the crowd that lines the street. Children arrive in costume carrying bright orange pumpkins, and parade participants shower the route with Halloween candy as they pass. Food vendors set up along the way with cheesesteaks, burgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, fries and soft drinks, so it is easy to make an evening of it.
Spectators can park at no charge in the public lot on Wyomissing Avenue, across from the Exxon and near the park where the parade ends. Shuttle buses run to the staging area for participants. Public parking is not available in the Northridge staging area, and there is no rain date.
