Gring's Mill Recreation Area takes on its holiday look this evening, with a walk-through light display that traces the paths, trees, and historic stone buildings along the Tulpehocken Creek. The route is an easy stroll, and the glow reflecting off the water near the bridge is one of the most photographed sights in Berks County.
There is more to see than the lights. Santa settles in at Christmas Tree Lane in the barn, where trees decorated by local organizations line the space, and a model train display runs in the former generator station on the bridge. Live music plays in the outdoor pavilion, with a different act most nights, and a fire pit gives visitors a warm spot to pause.
Food trucks are on site with snacks, hot drinks, and dinner options, so families can make a full evening of it. Dress for the weather, bring comfortable shoes for the walk, and plan on taking your time.
