About the event
Reading Coffee Company opens the bar for an evening workshop built around espresso, led by Beverage Director John Cappelletti. The session starts with a short talk on espresso as a brewing method, then moves into a look at workflow and hands-on time behind the bar with the shop's equipment. Along the way you will work on tasting and dialing in shots so you can carry the technique back to your own kitchen.
It suits a range of coffee drinkers: the home barista who wants professional-level guidance, anyone who received a machine as a gift and wants to get more from it, and people weighing whether a home setup makes sense for them. There is time set aside for questions, and a few gifts to take home at the end.
No equipment or supplies are needed, and tasting discard cups will be on hand for anyone sensitive to caffeine. The workshop is hands-on and involves hot equipment, water, steam, and coffee, so closed-toe shoes and suitable clothing are recommended, and participants should let the instructor know about allergies, sensitivities, or physical limitations beforehand.
