Junk journals are built from whatever is at hand, often recycled scraps and found paper, and this open session at the Berks County Heritage Center gives Berks crafters a relaxed evening to work on theirs alongside other people who enjoy the same thing. The format is loose rather than lecture style, so you can settle in, spread out your materials, and make progress at your own pace.

The session covers the basics of what goes into a junk journal, the kinds of supplies that work well, and the many ways people put these books to use once they are assembled. A limited selection of art materials is on hand, so plan to bring your own book plus any papers, ephemera, or embellishments you would like to include. Journals will also be available on site for anyone who arrives without one.

Newcomers and longtime journalers are equally at home here. Registration is required ahead of the evening, and the Heritage Center is located on Red Bridge Road in Reading.
