Junk Journaling

About the event
Junk journaling turns scraps into something worth keeping. Ticket stubs, maps, old letters, packaging, fabric, and pages pulled from books all find a place inside a handmade book that doubles as a keepsake and a place to write. This gathering at the Berks County Heritage Center runs as an open session, so you can work at your own pace while swapping ideas with other people who enjoy making things by hand.
The session covers the basics of what goes into a junk journal, the kinds of supplies that work well, and the many ways people put their finished books to use, from memory keeping and travel logs to sketching and collage. A limited selection of art materials is on hand, so bringing your own book and any papers, trims, or mementos you would like to include will give you more to work with. Journals are also available on site if you need one.
Beginners and longtime crafters are equally welcome, and no prior experience is needed. Space is set aside for this session, so signing up ahead of time is necessary.
