Lower Heidelberg Township's road crew makes one of its periodic rounds for organic yard waste, starting October 5 and continuing through that week. It is a good excuse to tackle the trimming, pruning, and garden cleanup that piles up at the end of the growing season, since the material goes out at the curb instead of being hauled somewhere yourself.
This collection is the exception to the usual rule, because organic waste is not taken with the regular Monday trash or recycling. The rest of the year, residents with registered access use the Point Road organic yard waste site in Wernersville, which takes leaves, grass clippings, garden residue, and tree trimmings.
