Michael H. Wise II Memorial 5K and Half Mile Fun Run

Runners and walkers gather on the Reading Area Community College riverfront campus at 2nd and Penn Streets for the Michael H. Wise II Memorial 5K and Half Mile Fun Run. The 5K follows a flat, wheel measured route on closed streets and shaded asphalt trail marked on and around the campus, which makes it a welcoming choice for anyone chasing a personal best as well as for first timers who simply want to finish. A half mile fun run for kids rounds out the morning, so younger family members have a distance of their own.
The race supports the Michael H. Wise II Memorial Foundation, which honors a Reading city police officer who died in the line of duty in June 2004. The foundation funds scholarships and community efforts in his memory, and the morning draws a mix of local runners, families, and law enforcement from across the region. Alongside the open age group awards, a Top Cop award goes to the fastest law enforcement finisher.
The event is held rain or shine. Timing is handled by Pretzel City Sports, with results posted to their site after the race.
