Pennsylvania’s Early Settlers & the Supernatural
October 18, 2026 · 2:00 PM · Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road, Reading · Free; registration required

About the event
Pennsylvania's colonial history holds more folklore, superstition, and belief in the unseen than many people expect. This afternoon lecture at the Berks County Heritage Center looks at how the colony's Quaker origins shaped a distinctive relationship with the supernatural, and how early settlers understood the mysteries they could not explain.
Jennifer Green, Educator at the Chester County History Center, leads the talk. Her presentation draws on the beliefs and practices that traveled with the region's first European arrivals and took root in the countryside around us, making it a fitting way to spend an October afternoon.
The program is free, and registration is required in advance. The Heritage Center sits along Red Bridge Road in Reading, with details available through the Berks County Parks and Recreation website.
