WhereReading Coffee Company, 316 W Main Street, Birdsboro

Reading Coffee Company opens its Birdsboro shop for a hands-on evening devoted to pour over brewing, led by Beverage Director John Cappelletti. The session starts with a look at the equipment, then moves into a review of technique and the small habits that tend to trip people up at the counter at home.

From there the focus shifts to the variables that shape a cup, with plenty of brewing together and note taking along the way as the group compares what changes. Time is set aside for questions, and participants go home with a few gifts.

The class suits anyone pouring their first cone as well as longtime brewers looking to sharpen what they already do. Nothing is required to bring, though you are welcome to work with your own gear if you would like the practice. Because the workshop involves hot water, steam and heated equipment, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing are recommended, and the instructor should be told about any allergies, sensitivities or physical limitations beforehand.
