Berks County Master Gardeners join Berks Nature for a morning focused on collecting and keeping seeds from one growing season to the next. Presentations cover how and when to gather seeds from common garden vegetables, familiar garden flowers, and native plants, plus the small details that matter later: keeping seeds viable for the following year, labeling packets well, and recognizing different types of seed heads so you can tell when a plant is ready.

After the talks, informational tables invite you to look closer at seed storage options, ways to check whether seeds are still viable, and seed cleaning techniques. Presenters stay on hand to answer questions about what you are growing at home.

The morning wraps up with a guided walk through Berks Nature's native wildflower gardens, which are managed to support native pollinators. Along the way you will see firsthand how to judge whether a seed head is ready and how to collect seeds as you go. Good for beginning gardeners and anyone who wants to stretch this year's plants into next year's beds.
