About the event
Three acclaimed soloists come together at the WCR Center for the Arts as the Park~Raymond~Li-Cohen Trio makes its Reading debut, presented by the Friends of Chamber Music of Reading in partnership with Berks Sinfonietta. Violinist Grace Park is a winner of the Naumburg International Violin Competition, cellist Noemie Raymond has been named Artist of the Year by the Quebec Arts and Letters Council, and pianist Zhenni Li-Cohen is a Steinway Artist whose playing The New Yorker called that of "a thrillingly good pianist."
Their program for this evening draws on the heart of the piano trio repertoire, with music by Ravel, Debussy and Mendelssohn. Each player brings a distinct voice to the ensemble, and the pairing of French color with Mendelssohn's romantic drive makes for a varied night of listening.
The historic WCR Center hosts these concerts in a hall whose acoustics suit chamber music well, and the room's close seating lets the audience catch the detail that this repertoire rewards. It is a welcoming introduction for anyone curious about chamber music, and a familiar gathering place for longtime followers of the series in downtown Reading.
