The Joffrey Ballet
November 21, 2026 · 7:30 PM · Santander Performing Arts Center, 136 N 6th Street, Reading

About the event
The Reading Symphony Orchestra welcomes dancers from the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet to the Santander Performing Arts Center stage, with Andrew Constantine on the podium. The program pairs choreography with live orchestral sound, drawing on music by Dvorak, Faure, Stravinsky and Kabalevsky.
Stravinsky anchors the evening as one of the defining voices in ballet music, known for driving rhythms and vivid orchestral color. His work reshaped the sound of the concert hall after the 1913 premiere of The Rite of Spring, and it still carries a charge for listeners meeting it for the first time.
The Grainger Academy is the training program owned and operated by The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, teaching students of all ages and levels on a foundation of classical ballet. Seeing that tradition up close, with a full orchestra in the pit rather than a recording, makes for a memorable night out in downtown Reading. Doors and pre-concert dining options downtown give you reason to arrive early.
Hosted by Reading Symphony Orchestra on BerksConnect.
