WhereThe Parklands, Wyomissing

Wyomissing Borough Parks and Recreation hosts a morning walk through The Parklands, with the group setting out from the Goodman Barn just off Old Wyomissing Road. October is a good time to see this stretch of the borough, when the wooded slopes along the creek turn color and the air stays cool through the late morning.

The Parklands cover hundreds of acres of open and wooded ground laced with walking paths, and the terrain here is gentle, with trail surfaces that range from crushed gravel and grass to paved lane. The route passes landmarks that have been part of Wyomissing life for generations, from the creek corridor to the old barns and meadows that give the park its character.

Comfortable shoes and a light jacket are the main things to bring. The pace suits walkers of a wide range of abilities, and the setting makes it an easy outing for neighbors, visitors, and anyone curious about the history and natural life of the park.
