Confidential Reproductive Health Care From MFHS
Maternal and Family Health Services, known as MFHS, offers caring, confidential health care for you and your partner, including pregnancy testing, STD testing and treatment, birth control, emergency contraception, and complete gynecological care. MFHS serves women, children and families across Eastern Pennsylvania.
Cost depends on your age and income. Adolescents under 18 years of age can receive services for free. Adults who cannot afford to pay may be free, or pay on a sliding scale based on their income. MFHS will never turn someone away based on their ability to pay, and it accepts many private insurances.
To get care, fill out the MFHS Reproductive Health and Maternity Services request form, linked as "Request a Reproductive Heath Appointment" at mfhs.org/do-i-qualify. The form asks for your name, date of birth, phone number and email, the type of appointment you want (family planning, gynecological exam or Pap test, STI screening, pregnancy test, breast exam, emergency contraception, or contraception and birth control), and which office works best for you. A representative from MFHS will then be in touch to schedule your appointment. The form asks whether you would like a Spanish speaking staff member to call you back, and the questions are printed in both English and Spanish.
One thing to know before you start: the appointment request form offers four offices to choose from, Scranton, Hazleton, Pottsville and East Stroudsburg. MFHS lists locations in many counties, including a Reading and Greater Berks County group at mfhs.org/locations, but the pages do not say which offices give these reproductive health appointments, so ask when MFHS contacts you. MFHS also provides complete wrap-around pregnancy care at the Circle of Care in Scranton, which is a separate maternity service.
