Advocates for Abuse Survivors at Berks County Night Court From Safe Berks
Safe Berks sends advocates out into the community to meet survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault where they already are, including night court at the Berks County Courthouse. This is the work of its Community Outreach & Response (COR) Department, which was formed because meeting with survivors wherever they are comfortable helps take away barriers to getting help. The department's staff includes Medical Advocacy Partnership Program (MAPP) Specialists, Rapid Response/MAPP Advocates, a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)/Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) Specialist, and Community Response Specialists. They respond on site and also give educational, prevention, and awareness programming.
The help is for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. COR staff provide on-site response to all survivors. The page does not give any other eligibility rules, and it does not say what COR services cost, so ask when you call.
Advocates are on site at the Berks County Courthouse from 7:00 pm to midnight daily. COR staff respond on site at many other community partnerships as well.
