Peer Recovery Support for Addiction From the Council on Chemical Abuse

The Council on Chemical Abuse runs Recovery Support Services, which pairs people in Berks County who are struggling with substance addiction with certified Recovery Specialists who are themselves in personal recovery from addiction.

These services are not treatment. They are meant to work alongside drug and alcohol treatment by promoting sustained recovery and helping to prevent, or minimize, episodes of relapse.

A Recovery Specialist helps you connect with supports and resources in the community so you stay engaged in recovery. Together you build a Recovery Plan that names the obstacles in the way of your recovery and the recovery capital that will strengthen it. Those plans cover an array of life concerns, including rebuilding a healthy lifestyle, sober leisure activities and community service, and building meaning and purpose.
