Threshold Rehabilitation Services|Get Help in Berks County|Reading

The clubhouse is modeled after Fountain House, the first clubhouse, established in New York City in 1948. It provides vocational, educational, and social opportunities. Every member is guaranteed a place to belong, meaningful work, meaningful relationships, and a place to return.

Members are actively involved in all operational and decision-making procedures of the clubhouse. People work side by side in "work units," and each unit is responsible for specific tasks that keep the clubhouse running. Work is the central focus, and members learn valuable skills and build relationships as they work. Member participation is voluntary. Some members also pursue volunteer work or continued education.

Members have access to Transitional Employment, which is entry-level work in the community for 8 to 20 hours per week. These placements last 6 to 9 months, and clubhouse staff provide the training.

After the work-ordered day, Mosaic House offers social hours as another way for members to build relationships in the community.

Mosaic House is at 525 Franklin Street, Reading, PA, and is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with extended hours for social activities.

For more information about the clubhouse, call 610-375-7840. The page also links a Mosaic House Referral Form as a PDF, but it does not say who fills it out, where to send it, or whether a referral is required to join.

The page does not say what membership costs, and it does not list an age limit or other rules about who can join beyond supporting individuals living with mental illness. The main Threshold office number for general questions is 610-777-7691.
