Peer Support for Serious Mental Illness From Threshold
Threshold Rehabilitation Services runs a Peer Support Program for people living with serious mental illness, matching them with Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) who have their own lived experience of mental health recovery along with training in it.
Support is provided one-on-one in the community, not at an office. The work centers on building trust, connection and hope through shared experience, and the services are guided by the person receiving support, so the path is personalized. Peer Specialists are trained in Personal Medicine, Whole Health, Power Statements, Decision Support, Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and Peer Group Services.
Peer Support is meant to complement other mental health services and to strengthen a person's overall recovery journey.
