RISE Recovery Center and Support Groups in Reading
The Council on Chemical Abuse runs the RISE Center in Reading, a community center where people in recovery from substance use disorder and their families can take part in support group meetings, activities and events. RISE stands for Recovery, Information, Support and Education. The center opened in September 2019 and is staffed with Certified Recovery Specialists who have personal experience and training in recovery from substance use disorders. It embraces all pathways to recovery and offers a safe place to gather, along with access to health and wellness related resources.
The RISE Center is not a drug and alcohol or mental health treatment facility, and no one resides at the location. It is not a clubhouse. It is meant to complement and reinforce the positive changes of the treatment experience. Educational trainings for professionals in the field of drug and alcohol prevention, treatment and recovery are also held there.
Meeting space for mutual aid and self help groups is available at the center. Groups that meet regularly there include SMART Recovery, Gamblers Anonymous, and the Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families support group. The groups are listed with links to details on dates, times and contact information, but the meeting days and times are not printed.
