NAMI Connection Peer Support Group for LGBTQ+ Adults in Reading
NAMI Berks County PA runs a NAMI Connection peer recovery support group in Reading for LGBTQ+ adults who live with a mental health condition. It is a group where people talk with others going through something similar, and it offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope.
The group is for LGBTQ+ individuals 18 and over who experience mental health conditions. It is led by trained LGBTQ+ facilitators who are living in recovery themselves.
Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, in person, and each meeting runs 90 minutes. The location is the NAMI-Berks Office, 640 Walnut Street, Lower Level, Reading, PA 19601. There is a private parking lot at the Walnut Street office, and after 5pm you do not need to pay the parking meter.
The group is free, as are all NAMI programs. An RSVP is not required. For questions, NAMI Berks County's general number is 610-685-3000.
NAMI support groups follow the same Group Guidelines and Principles of Support, and every NAMI support group is led by two NAMI-trained facilitators who are either family members or individuals in recovery themselves. NAMI Berks County also holds other support groups, including separate NAMI Connection groups for adults and for veterans, with their own days and locations.
