Walk-In Drug and Alcohol Evaluations From Treatment Access and Services Center
Treatment Access and Services Center, known as Berks TASC, runs a Central Intake Unit that gives substance use clinical evaluations to Berks County residents and decides what treatment fits best, including detoxification, outpatient, or residential treatment services. TASC is a drug and alcohol central intake and treatment referral agency licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs under the auspices of the Council on Chemical Abuse, the Single County Authority in Berks County.
You are eligible if you are a Berks County resident with no health insurance or you are insured through Medicaid. People paying out of pocket can also be evaluated through the Central Intake Unit. If you have commercial or private health insurance, you must choose the self-pay option for your evaluation. The page does not say what the self-pay evaluation costs, so ask when you call.
Evaluations and CRN evaluations are being done in person right now. Telehealth is available to those who meet eligibility criteria.
You do not need an appointment. The Central Intake Unit is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis. Go early in the day: so there is enough time to finish the evaluation, the last individuals are seen at 2:30 pm.
The main office is Berks TASC, 640 Walnut Street Suite 101, Reading, PA 19601. You can stop in or call 610-375-4426 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
