Can you vote early in Berks County?
Pennsylvania has no traditional early voting, but you can vote before Election Day in Berks County by casting a mail ballot in person at the county office through October 27.
Pennsylvania does not have traditional early voting the way some states do, with weeks of open polling sites. It does offer the next closest thing: you can request, fill out, and turn in a mail ballot in a single visit to the county election office before Election Day. In Berks County you do that at the Office of Election Services, and the last day to do it is October 27.
How "voting early" works in Pennsylvania
The state calls this on-demand mail ballot voting. As the Department of State puts it, registered voters "can request, receive, vote and submit your mail-in or absentee ballot all in one visit." You go to the county election office, apply for your mail ballot, complete it there, and hand it back, all in one trip. There is no separate early-voting location or early-voting machine.
Where and when in Berks County
Go to the Office of Election Services, first floor of the Berks County Services Center, 633 Court Street, Reading. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the phone is 610-478-6490. The last day to apply for a mail ballot, including in person, is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, so any in-person mail voting has to happen on a weekday on or before that date.
In-person mail voting cannot begin until ballots are printed and available. The state calendar has counties start sending mail ballots no later than October 20, and sometimes earlier. Before you make the trip, call 610-478-6490 to confirm ballots are ready.
Berks County had not posted any satellite offices, weekend hours, or extended early-voting hours for the November election as of early September. If that changes, it will appear on the county Office of Election Services page. Until then, plan on the single downtown Reading office during regular weekday hours.
