How to register to vote in Berks County

To vote in the November 3, 2026 election, you must be registered by Monday, October 19, 2026, which is 15 days before Election Day. You can register three ways in Berks County: online, by mail, or in person. This guide covers who qualifies and exactly what each method takes.
Who can register
To register in Pennsylvania you must be a United States citizen for at least one month before the election, a resident of Pennsylvania and your election district for at least 30 days before the election, and at least 18 years old on or before Election Day. You can register at 17 if you will turn 18 by November 3.
You also register (or re-register) when you change your name, move to a new address, or want to change your political party. If you have moved within Berks County or into it, update your registration by the same October 19 deadline so your record matches where you live.
The three ways to register
- Online. Go to the state voter registration application. You will need your Pennsylvania driver's license or PennDOT ID number. If you do not have one, the form lets you use the last four digits of your Social Security number. This is the fastest method and works until 11:59 p.m. on October 19.
- By mail. Fill out a paper voter registration application and mail it early so the county receives it by October 19. Mail it to Office of Election Services, Berks County Services Center, 633 Court Street, 1st Floor, Reading, PA 19601. You can get the form from the county Office of Election Services or at many post offices and libraries.
- In person. Drop off a completed application at the Office of Election Services on the first floor of the Berks County Services Center, 633 Court Street, Reading, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also register when you get or renew a driver's license at a PennDOT center.
Check that it worked
After you register, confirm your record with the state's voter registration status tool or by calling 1-877-VOTESPA (1-877-868-3772). Checking is the surest way to catch a typo in your address or a registration that did not go through before a deadline.
