About the program
Welding Open Studio at GoggleWorks is independent work time for welders who already know their way around the equipment. You bring your own project ideas and work at your own pace, with a studio monitor on hand for oversight and help with the equipment. Sessions run on Sundays through the year, and access is booked by the month.
You are responsible for your own steel or metal and your own personal protective equipment. Mild or carbon steel with minimal rust and paint, stainless steel, and cast iron are permitted. Other metals can be reviewed on request. This is set up for intermediate and advanced adults: you need to have completed a multi-week intro class at GoggleWorks, or have equivalent experience approved by the studio manager. Email programs@goggleworks.org to ask about that or to check on a material.
The studio is at 201 Washington St in Reading. Sign up online at the GoggleWorks class page, and register for the orientation along with your first month. Registration for each session closes the Friday morning before it takes place.
