This introductory glassblowing class at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts runs on Tuesdays from 6 PM to 9 PM for five sessions, meeting in the Glassblowing Studio in Building 5 at 201 Washington St in Reading. The winter run goes from November 24 through December 22.
You watch demonstrations and then work hot glass yourself, learning the basic techniques step by step. Class talk covers historical and contemporary glass movements, basic glass chemistry, and how the studio operates. It is open to all skill levels, so no previous experience with glass is needed. The class is set up for adults.
Bring your own water bottle. Closed-toe shoes and a hair tie are required. Registration is handled on the GoggleWorks page for this session, and it closes five business days before the first class. Students under 18 in an adult course need written permission from GoggleWorks in advance. Scholarships are available through GoggleWorks, and groups of four or more can ask about booking a private glassblowing workshop instead.
