This is an intermediate class for people who already know their way around jewelry making and want to keep building skills. The group works through a range of metalsmithing topics, with attention to design, fabrication and stone setting. It runs as an independent study group, so there is room to trade ideas with other makers while you work on your own pieces. Martha Westbrook leads the sessions.
Sessions meet on Wednesdays from 10 AM to 2 PM for six meetings, in the Metalsmithing Studio in Building 6 at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St in Reading. Bring your own fine metals and gemstones. Closed-toe shoes are required in the studio.
The class is set for adults. Registration is handled on the GoggleWorks class page, and sign-ups close five business days before the first meeting. GoggleWorks offers scholarships, and anyone enrolling a student under 18 in an adult course should contact the programs office first for a permission form.
