This adults class at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts walks you through one piece of jewelry from raw material to finished work. In the first meeting you work with lapidary tools, cutting, shaping and polishing a rough stone into the form you want. In the second meeting you move to silversmithing and set that stone in a silver frame, the step that lets it become part of a ring or a necklace.
All skill levels are welcome, so you do not need past metals experience. The class meets on Tuesdays from 6 PM to 9 PM for two sessions in the Metalsmithing Studio in Building 6 at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St in Reading. Closed-toe shoes are required in the studio.
Registration is handled on the GoggleWorks class page, and sign-ups close five business days before the first meeting. Instructors are Paola Mateo and Aaron Wozniak. If there is anything that would help you have a good experience in the studio, you can add a note when you register.
