Volunteer reenactors portraying Civilian Conservation Corps enlistees set up camp at Hopewell Furnace for the day, with programs and demonstrations that commemorate Veterans Day. Their programs cover the part the CCC played in restoring Hopewell Furnace and the organization's impact across the country during the Great Depression.

Visitors can watch woodcutting, see a historic cookstove and an original CCC truck, and step into one of the park's historic structures set up as makeshift barracks. World War I era equipment is on display as well. The CCC men who served at Hopewell Furnace were all World War I veterans, and the encampment shows how they moved from the front lines of Europe to the woods of southeastern Pennsylvania.

Rangers lead guided tours of the furnace complex several times during the day, drawing on the CCC men's own newsletters to share the challenges and triumphs they wrote about. A flag raising ceremony takes place earlier in the morning, before the encampment opens, so come early if you would like to see it. Ask staff about the CCC Junior Ranger Book. The event may be changed or cancelled in bad weather.
