Short Story Creative Writing Workshop
Starts Mon, Jan 25, 5:00 PM · Free · Ages 18 and up
About the workshop
Write a short story from start to finish in this four part workshop for adults at the Main Library on South Fifth Street in Reading. The sessions build on each other: the short story and story arc, creating characters, creating setting, and then pacing, readability and voice. Along the way the group looks at the elements that go into strong short story writing.
No prior writing experience is needed. Bring your own notebook and writing materials, or a laptop if you prefer to type. The final product is a short story of about ten to twenty pages that is yours to keep and keep working on.
The series is led by Kristina (Tina) Hartz, a Reading local who works as a writing tutor at Reading Area Community College. Tina holds an associate's degree in creative writing from RACC and a bachelor's degree in professional writing from Kutztown University, and also leads the writers' group at the LGBT Center on the first Friday of each month.
