The National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation, formerly the B&O Railroad Museum, is a railroad museum at 901 West Pratt Street in Baltimore, MD, built around the 1884 B&O Roundhouse.
The 1884 Roundhouse has 22 sides, is 245 feet across and 135 feet high, and holds 19th-century locomotives and cars under almost an acre of slate roof around a 60-foot turntable. The Mile One Express runs about 20 minutes along the nation's first mile of commercial railroad for $5, Thursday to Sunday through November 6. Parking is free, and admission drops to $10 on second Wednesdays.
Before you go
Train ride tickets are sold on-site only; check availability at admissions when you arrive and plan around the 11:30 AM departure. The Observation Car upgrade ($12 adults, $8 kids) rides in the 1948 Royal Blue lounge car with refreshments. Discounts apply only at the desk. Parking is free.
