The Berks Business Education Coalition brings business and education leaders together at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading for its Business and Education Summit, a morning built around strengthening the connection between local classrooms and local employers. Educators, workforce professionals, business leaders and community partners are all part of the conversation, with a focus on how Berks County students can be better prepared for life after high school.
A centerpiece of the program is the presentation of findings from a new BBEC student career-readiness research project conducted by Lepson Research Group. The study looks at students in grades 7 through 12 and asks what shapes their thinking about future careers and how they view the career-readiness support they receive in school. Jessi Mitchell of Lepson Research Group will share the results.
The program also takes up career readiness, financial literacy, human resources and the changing workplace, with expert speakers and interactive discussion time. Berks County students who have excelled in internship experiences will be recognized, a nod to what happens when local employers and schools work closely together.
