The Reading Public Museum opens its galleries to a four-week art history course led jointly by Scott Schweigert, Curator of Art and Civilizations, and Geoff Fleming, Executive Director and CEO. This session begins in the early afternoon and runs as part of the museum's adult programming.

Schweigert brings decades of curatorial work to the room, with a specialty in European art of the seventeenth century, and he has organized traveling exhibitions drawn from the museum's own collection. Fleming leads the institution and joins him in teaching, so participants get two perspectives on how works of art are made, collected, and understood.

Specific topics for the series are still being announced. Anyone curious about painting, patronage, and the stories behind the objects in a Berks County collection will find this a comfortable way to spend a Tuesday afternoon, whether you follow art history closely or are simply interested in learning more.
