Borough-Wide Trick-or-Treating

Costumes, jack-o-lanterns, and candy fill the streets of West Reading on Halloween night as the borough holds its trick-or-treating hours. Neighborhoods across town take part, with porch lights on and treats ready for ghosts, goblins, and every other character who comes to the door.
Families are encouraged to make the evening a safe one. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult, add reflective tape to costumes and bags, and carry a flashlight or wear a blinking light so drivers can see you. Cross at intersections and marked crosswalks, stick to well lit homes, stay on sidewalks rather than cutting through yards, and keep a polite thank you ready at each stop. Give unfamiliar pets some space, be mindful of open flames inside pumpkins, and look over all treats for tampering or choking hazards before anyone digs in.
Mayor Samantha Kaag and the West Reading Police Department wish everyone taking part a fun and safe Halloween, and ask that any suspicious activity be reported to an adult or to police.
