Death Cafe
October 5, 2026 · 5:00 PM · Reading Public Library, 100 N. 5th Street · Registration required

About the event
Death doula Karen Glass facilitates a Death Cafe at the Reading Public Library's main branch, part of a three part series. The idea behind a Death Cafe is straightforward: bring people together in a relaxed setting and lift the taboo around talking about death. There is no agenda and no script, just a group conversation that goes where the participants take it.
Guests are asked to arrive at 4:45 so the conversation can begin promptly at 5:00. The format welcomes anyone who has been thinking about mortality, whether that comes from caring for someone, working through a loss, planning ahead, or simple curiosity about a subject that rarely gets open air.
Death Cafes are held in communities around the world, and this one offers Berks County residents a comfortable place downtown to sit with the topic among neighbors. Registration is required and can be arranged through the library's reference desk at 610-655-6355.
