About the event
Talking about death is something many of us put off, and a Death Cafe offers a comfortable place to start. Death doula Karen Glass leads this gathering at the Main Library as part of a three part series, guiding a conversation where people can say what is on their minds and listen to how others think about the end of life.
The Death Cafe model is simple: a group directed conversation with no set agenda, no speaker presentation, and no particular conclusion anyone is steered toward. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session, and the wider aim behind these gatherings is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives. Topics come from whoever is at the table, which means every session takes its own shape.
Guests are asked to arrive at 4:45 so the conversation can begin promptly at 5. Registration is required, and you can sign up by calling the library reference desk at 610-655-6355.
