The Fall Walk Series brings neighbors together for a guided morning in the Parklands, where "Walk with the Welshman" pairs the season's scenery with some of the earliest chapters of local history. Long before the Wyomissing we know today, Welsh and German settlers farmed and milled along Wyomissing Creek, and traces of their roads, farms and workplaces are still part of the landscape.
The group gathers at the Goodman Barn and sets off into the Parklands, with stories along the way about spots such as Lutz's Farm, Rieth's Gristmill, Old Man Echo, Old Wyomissing Road and the Golden Meadow. Crisp air, turning leaves and the creek winding through the park make for a fitting backdrop, and the pace is relaxed enough to take it all in.
Parking is available at the gravel lot just off Old Mill Road. Walkers are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Helping Harvest Food Bank or to contribute in support of the Wyomissing Recreation Department and its programs.
