Spend a Sunday afternoon wandering the upper floors of GoggleWorks, where the working studios of the second and third floors open their doors for a free self-guided crawl. Artists are encouraged to be in their spaces from noon to 4 PM, so this is the window when you are most likely to meet the makers, ask about their process, and see works in progress up close.
There is no set route and no schedule to keep. Visitors and families move at their own pace through hallways lined with paintings, prints, and objects that spill out from the studios themselves. Part of the pleasure is the surprise of it: a conversation with someone whose work you have admired, or running into a neighbor doing the same browsing you are.
Bring a friend, bring the kids, or come on your own and strike up a conversation. It is a relaxed way to see the creative life of downtown Reading firsthand and support the artists who make their work here.
