Free Online Job Search Website From PA CareerLink Berks County
PA CareerLink Berks County connects job seekers in the county to pacareerlink.pa.gov, Pennsylvania's job search website, which is free to employers and job seekers. It is for anyone who is unemployed and looking for work, working and looking for a better job, or wanting to upgrade their skills for the next job.
New job postings appear daily. When you create an account and enter your education, work history and similar details, the system creates a resume for you. You can upload a different resume, but everyone should create a resume on the system, because that is the resume employers see when they search for people to match their job openings.
To learn how the website works for you, come to Welcome Orientation. It is held in person, and the events calendar has up to date days and times. Attending it is described as a must, because without it you will miss hearing about the variety of services offered in the office and through community partners. Services are grouped so you can choose the path that best fits your needs, and you may choose to have staff share your information with partner agencies whose services interest you.
If you need a computer to job search, the Resource Room is a self service center open to the public, with internet accessible computers, job search and career materials, training provider materials, information on apprenticeships and Trade Act impacted companies, materials for veterans, online access for unemployment compensation, a free fax machine and a copier at 5 cents a page. The Resource Room is open Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
The office is at 1920 Kutztown Road, Suite F, Reading, PA 19604. The job seekers phone is (610) 988-1300, and relay services users dial 711. Public office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm and Wednesday 10:00am to 4:30pm. Auxiliary aids and services are available on request for people with disabilities, and language assistance services are available free of cost.
One thing to know: staff do not have access to your unemployment compensation claim or information, and the UC courtesy phones are not available at this time. Email unemployment compensation at UChelp@pa.gov, and if you do not hear back within 5 business days, contact the office. A fax machine is available if you need to fax an appeal.
