HopeHouse Transitional Apartments From Hope Rescue Mission
Hope Rescue Mission runs HopeHouse, a group of private apartments and group homes located throughout Berks County for people leaving its onsite residential programs and moving toward living on their own.
HopeHouse is for the Mission's main campus residents. People who do well in the onsite residential programs often still struggle to find affordable housing for independent living, and HopeHouse gives them a place to live while staying connected to the Mission's supportive community. Each HopeHouse is adopted by a sponsor church that engages residents and serves the surrounding neighborhood.
Renovations at HopeHouse were completed in February, and 13 men have since moved from the main campus into HopeHouse.
The page does not say how someone applies or is chosen, what it costs, how long a person can stay, or whether there is a waiting list, so ask about all of that. For general questions, Hope Rescue Mission is at 645 North Sixth Street, Reading, PA 19601, phone (610) 375-4224, email officemanager@HopeForReading.org. That is the Mission's general contact, not a published intake line for HopeHouse.
Since 1894, Hope Rescue Mission has been a place of refuge for homeless men, women, and children of Berks County, with residential programs people can work their way through to transition back into the community as productive and independent individuals.
