School Based Counseling for Hamburg Area Students From Family Guidance Center
The Hamburg Area School District contracts with the Family Guidance Center (FGC) to provide school-based counseling services to individual students and their families. Through school-based counseling, a child receives private, outpatient-level services within their own school building.
These services extend during holiday breaks and summer vacation, making them available through the entire calendar year with limited, if any, interruptions.
The service is for students at the district's schools: Perry Elementary Center, Tilden Elementary Center, Hamburg Area Middle School and Hamburg Area High School. A referral is the way in.
To refer your child, contact the Social Worker/Family Support Consultant assigned to your child's school, by phone or email:

Once connected, you complete a referral form with the Social Worker/Family Support Consultant, and FGC's intake department reviews it. If school-based services are appropriate, the referral process continues and you are given an intake packet to fill out for your child. After the packet is completed and reviewed, FGC calls you to schedule an intake appointment. Your child is then scheduled for school-based services with Nikki Snyder or Erin Latta.
School-based availability is limited. If there is no availability at the time of your referral, other options are reviewed, including seeing an FGC clinician virtually or at FGC's Wyomissing and Hamburg locations. If FGC is not in-network with your insurance, you may discuss self-pay options with the intake department. If you prefer a provider who is in-network with your insurance, your child's Social Worker/Family Support Consultant may help with the referral to an outside agency.
