OnTrack Electric Bill Help From PPL Electric Utilities
PPL Electric Utilities runs OnTrack, a program for customers who need help with their electric bill. It replaces your regular bill with fixed monthly payments and forgives part of a past due balance.
Eligibility is based on household income. If your household meets these yearly income limits, you can apply: $23,940 for one person, $32,460 for two, $40,980 for three, $49,500 for four, $58,020 for five, $66,540 for six, $75,060 for seven and $83,580 for eight, adding $8,520 for each additional person.
Once you are enrolled, your monthly payment is lowered based on an OnTrack credit, which is applied each month to cover the difference between your actual bill and your fixed OnTrack payment. The credit amount is set by your primary heating source and your household income. If your home is heated by electric, the most you can receive over 12 months is $3,150. If your primary heating source is natural gas or oil, the maximum credit is $1,950. If you have a past due account balance, OnTrack forgives a portion of that balance monthly. You can still apply if you have no overdue balance.
To apply, sign in to your PPL account online and answer a few questions. You can upload files or photos of the required documents from your mobile device. All you need to apply is your PPL bill account number and income information for each member of your household. PPL's team reviews your application and lets you know if you are enrolled.
Things to know: pay on time each month to receive your OnTrack credit, and enrolling in auto pay helps you never miss a payment. Keep your usage consistent, because if your usage increases and your credit is exhausted early, your monthly payment will be adjusted to the budget billing amount. Tell your OnTrack agency about any changes to your household income or occupants. OnTrack is a 12-month program, so reapply when your enrollment is about to expire; PPL sends a new application just before the 12 months is up.
